About Newzealand

New Zealand, situated in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, is an island nation comprised of two main landmasses, namely the North Island and the South Island, along with 700 smaller islands. Abel Tasman, a Dutch explorer, was the first European to discover New Zealand, but later, it was colonized by the British who dominated the country during the 19th and first half of the 20th century.

The official currency of New Zealand is the New Zealand Dollar, and the capital city is Wellington, while Auckland, with a third of the country’s population, is the largest city. Internationally, New Zealanders are often referred to as “Kiwis,” a nickname derived from the national symbol, the flightless bird known as the “Kiwi.”
