Study In Canada

About Canada

With an area of approximately 9 million square kilometers, Canada is the second largest country globally after Russia, occupying around two-fifths of the northern North American region. Despite its vast size, Canada has a relatively small population of only 37.6 million people. It operates as a federal parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy, consisting of 10 provinces and three territories. The capital city is Ottawa, and the largest city is Toronto, both located in the province of Ontario. The official languages of Canada are English and French.

Canada is widely regarded as one of the safest and best places to live in the world, with a low crime rate and high quality of life and education. The United Nations has ranked Canada as the “best and safe place to live”. The country boasts an internationally acclaimed education system, with the Canadian Education System being ranked third globally in 2019 by The US News. As per the Global Peace Index 2019, Canada is among the top 10 safest nations in the world, which makes it an attractive destination for international students. Furthermore, Canada excels in academia, with 10 Canadian universities ranked in the top 200 by the QS World Universities Ranking in 2020.

Study In Canada

Germany is a highly sought-after destination for international students due to its exceptional education system. The country boasts world-renowned universities, exceptional research opportunities, and a wide range of courses and programs. Germany is known for its emphasis on education rather than profit, making it a safe and ideal place to study.

Why Choose Canada for Studying?

Canada has been recognized by the United Nations as the “best and safe place to live” due to its low crime rate and high quality of life and education. The Canadian education system is highly acclaimed, globally ranked as the third-best country for higher education by The US News in 2023. Accommodation and education costs are affordable, and international students are allowed to work part-time during their studies. According to the Global Peace Index 2019, Canada is one of the top 10 safest nations in the world. Moreover, academic excellence is a crucial factor in Canada, with 18 universities ranking in the top 500 by QS World Universities in 2019, including the University of Toronto at 28th position, followed by McGill University at 31st position and the University of British Columbia at 51st position. It is worth mentioning that more than 350,000 international students, including Indians, choose to study in Canada every year, according to the Immigration Department of Canada.

Intakes in Canada

Canadian universities and colleges offer three intakes for students:

  1. Fall intake, which starts in September and is preferred by many Indian students.
  2. Winter intake, which starts in January.
  3. Summer intake, which is limited to certain colleges and courses, usually beginning in April or May.

Scholarships for students to study in Canada

There are plenty of options for international students interested in applying for scholarships to study in Canada. Student can choose between governmental or non – governmental as well as University-oriented scholarships offered to students at different levels of education, ranging from graduation to post-graduation and postdoctoral.

Canada Education and Accommodation Expenses

The cost of education and accommodation in Canada is generally affordable for international students, with tuition fees varying from college to college. Additional expenses, such as administration fees and health insurance, are also reasonably priced. However, the cost of living can vary based on the lifestyle one wishes to maintain, with expenses such as dining out, shopping, accommodations, and travel impacting overall expenses.

Universities in Canada provide affordable on-campus accommodation options, which are generally more affordable than rented housing. Additionally, international students are allowed to work part-time while studying, providing an opportunity to supplement their income.

Post-Graduation Work (PSW) Permit in Canada

The Post Study Work Permit (PSW) program in Canada is a critical component of the country’s immigration system, allowing international students who have graduated from Canadian universities and colleges to work for up to three years after completing their studies. To be eligible for the PSW program, students must have at least 180 days left on their study permit when they apply.

The PSW program also offers graduates the opportunity to transition to permanent resident status in Canada.

For over 25 years, SOEC has been placing students in Canadian universities and colleges. We offer guidance and assistance throughout the entire application process to help students realize their dream of studying in Canada.
